LSD, also known as D-lysergic acid diethylamide or “acid,” is an illicit drug that is bought by the microgram, the gram, per hit, per vial, or by the sheet (blotter).

According to a report from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, the average cost of LSD in the U.S. is $5 to $25 per dose.

Various factors, however, including where you buy from, the quantity, and quality of the drug supply may affect the price for LSD bought in the U.S.

How Much Does LSD (Acid) Cost On The Street?

LSD typically costs between $5 to $25 for a single hit of LSD.

Like other common illicit drugs, such as methamphetamine (meth), MDMA, and cannabis, LSD can be bought in various quantities, depending on the seller.

LSD may be bought by:

  • the sheet (blotter paper)
  • the gram (or microgram)
  • per vial of liquid LSD
  • per hit of LSD
  • by the gel tablet (microdot)

LSD is taken orally, by mouth. Within an hour of use, LSD may cause hallucinations, sweating, anxiety, and distorted perception among other effects.

What Is The Cost For A Sheet (Blotter) Of Acid?

A sheet of LSD contains roughly 100 hits of LSD. A single tab of acid on a blotter paper costs between $7 to $15, depending on the drug source and other factors.

A full sheet of LSD-soaked paper will cost more. This can be sold for anywhere from $200 up to $1,000 in the United States.

How Much Does A Gram Of Acid Cost?

LSD is sold by the tenth of a gram, or – less commonly – by the full gram. Both are more costly than buying a single hit, which contains roughly 100 milligrams (mg) of LSD.

A tenth of a gram of acid, or about 1000 hits, costs $2000 to $3000. A full gram of LSD can cost upwards of $15,000, although it’s rarely bought in this quantity.

How Much Does A Vial Of LSD Cost?

A vial of liquid LSD costs $200 to $500, and typically contains 100 hits of lysergic acid.

How Much Does Microdosing With LSD Cost?

A microdose of LSD is about one-tenth of a typical dose. LSD sold for microdosing may cost up to $100 for a month’s supply of LSD microdoses (30 to 60 microdoses).

What Factors Can Affect The Price Of LSD/Acid?

Several factors can affect the average street price of illicit drugs, including psychedelics like LSD, ketamine, and psilocybin (magic mushrooms).

Factors known to affect drug prices include:

  • quality/purity of the drug
  • where you buy from
  • where it was manufactured
  • quantity purchased (e.g. single hit, sheet, vial)
  • current availability and demand

Is LSD Addictive?

LSD is not known to be addictive. However, it can create tolerance and be abused for its effects. It’s commonly used recreationally in club, rave, or party settings.

Therapeutic uses of LSD for treating certain mental disorders, such as depression, are also an ongoing area of study.

Treatment Options For LSD Abuse And Addiction

LSD drug use carries a risk of certain physical and mental health dangers, including substance abuse, accidental overdose, and drug addiction.

LSD abuse can be treated with behavioral health treatments, such as drug counseling, behavioral therapy, and group therapy.

For people with co-occurring mental health issues, or a history of abusing other substances (e.g. opioids), a full treatment program may be recommended.
