Are There Specialized Rehab Programs For Specific Addictions?

Addiction treatment is not a one-size-fits-all approach. Everyone has a different background and different treatment needs.

Each person’s mental health is also unique and uniquely affects their substance use. While specialized rehab programs for specific addictions are available, Bedrock doesn’t utilize this model.

Evidence suggests that an individual’s reasons for abusing substances are more important than
the substance they are using.

Bedrock Recovery Center focuses on an individual’s specific treatment needs, including addressing their motivations for abusing substances.

The Importance Of Individualized Care

The way an individual is impacted by substance use plays a crucial role in long-term success.

Studies show that benefiting from individualized care involves creating a full assessment, monitoring for behavioral or symptom-based changes, and updating treatment plans as changes occur.

It is crucial to shape each treatment plan according to the individual rather than using pre-planned substance-specific treatment methods.

People benefit from individualized care by:

  • being involved in the treatment
  • treating underlying causes of addiction
  • customizing care to match your treatment progression
  • tailoring treatment to your physical or emotional needs

While every situation is different, most people benefit from a personalized treatment plan and, as a result, experience more effective treatment.

Targeted Detoxification

There are a variety of different approaches to detoxification based on the specific substance being abused.

Approaches may include tapering substances, medically supported detox, medication-assisted treatment (MAT), and other methods.

Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) uses FDA-approved medication combined with behavioral health therapies or counseling. MAT is especially effective for alcohol and opioid use disorders.

Tapering off of a substance involves gradually decreasing the dose to reduce potentially life-threatening withdrawal symptoms and ensure someone’s safety during the process of detoxification.

Medically supported detox is when a clinician and other inpatient staff administer medication to help people withdraw safely while observing the individual consistently throughout the process.

Specialized Support Groups

Bedrock Recovery Center offers specialized support groups, including Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

AA is a peer-led support group for those living with alcohol addiction, while NA is for those living with drug addiction.

These 12-step programs allow those living with addiction to share their experiences with like-minded individuals and create supportive bonds.

These groups provide a space to practice coping strategies and role modeling to combat triggers and high-risk situations.

Specialized Therapies

A comprehensive treatment plan is one of the most critical aspects in ensuring an individual receives effective treatment.

The treatment plan must include therapies that target the root cause of addiction rather than the specific substance the individual is abusing.

Underlying causes that may lead to addiction include mental health disorders such as depressive disorders, stress, peer pressure, and other factors.

Bedrock Recovery Center provides a variety of specialized therapies, including LGBTQ+ groups, Refuge Recovery, SMART Recovery, first responder liaisons, etc.

All of our specialized therapies are designed to treat the root cause of substance abuse while providing support and validation for individuals who face unique circumstances in recovery.
